AVA 4.0 is now 64 bit compatible, therefore if you have 64 bit hardware you can now access all of your installed memory, giving AVA a massive boost in power and speed.
What are the benefits?
If you use AVA in 64 bit mode and have lots of RAM installed you will see increased speed benefits; when working with large files, or when working with many files all open at the same time.
Working with many/large files would normally slow you down as it is a very memory intensive process, however, 64 bit mode will increase the speed at which you can work allowing you to work quicker and more efficiently.
What Macs are 64 bit compatible?
- • All G5 processors
- • Intel Xeon and Intel Core 2 processors
Important note: You must be running Mac OS X 10.5 or higher in order to use 64 bit. Please note early Intel processors are not 64 bit capable.
To find out about your hardware and system version, go to Apple > About This Mac. AVA will automatically run in 32 bit mode if your hardware or Operating System is not 64 bit. If you do not have a 64 bit compatible station, it may be worth looking at upgrading your station as even Apple's new Mac Mini is 64 bit compatible.
