New Add Layers window.
A new floating window is now dedicated to adding layers. A simple click on one of the icons and a new layer is added to your file. This window can be left opened at all times and its location is remembered on launch.
New file format: AVA3.
AVA launches a new file format AVA3 which is more suited for all the latest new features of the AVA application. It provides some important benefits such as file compression, support of new layer types (L*a*b*, etc.) and handling a higher number of layers saved. You have a setting to define the amount of compression used when saving a file with AVA3 file format.
Multiple print queues, allow queue priorities in AVA Print Server.
After an extensive re-write, the AVA Server application has been grouped into a single application. It sees the introduction of many new features: multiple print queues for individual printers, set queue priority, improved dither, ability to drive multiple printers at once, and more.
Combine to Layer.
Following the recent interface improvements, we have now completely redesigned the Combine to Layer window. The previews are better handled and changes are displayed in real-time even on large files. Furthermore, the tonal movement is achieved with a softer tonal effect.
Open / Save support of Photoshop™ files.
Most Photoshop™ elements are now displayed in AVA; you can edit the file and save the file back as a Photoshop™ file without damaging the data integrity. Next time you open the file in Photoshop™, all the elements are still contained in the file and are updated with the modifications.
Vector enhancements.
Vectors can now be viewed as filled shapes rather than simple outlines; ideal when masking areas or creating motifs. Vector shapes are easily manipulated and offer no loss of quality when rotating or resizing them. You can even create colourways with your vector shapes and transfer them onto a Materialize scene.
Add noise on brushes.
In AVA 3.8, the Brushes window now incorporates a Noise option which can be applied globally to all brushes or individually. The Noise option adds additional randomness to individual brush strokes, helping to create more organic and less obvious computer generated effects on your designs.
Materialize: view start point, resize & quality changes reflected on grids.
To recognise the start point of a grid, AVA now highlights the first node in red. Also, grids and their trimming areas are taken into account when resizing or changing the quality of a file.
Support for Gretag Eye-One (i1 & iO).
AVA now supports the Gretag Eye-One. It is designed to calibrate and profile all your monitor types: LCD, CRT and laptops as well as your printers and measure spot colours to add to your colourfiles.
